COREY STOOT
"Funkafangez"
Renowned, Versatile Guitarist

COREY STOOT
Corey Stoot, better known as Funkafangez, is a celebrated guitarist whose versatility and musical genius have made him a cornerstone of modern rhythm guitar. Widely regarded by peers as a “rhythm master,” Corey has helped evolve the guitar as an essential and competitive instrument across genres including funk, jazz, hip-hop, reggae, rock, gospel, and soul.
Musical Roots & Early Life

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Corey picked up his first guitar at the age of twelve. Inspired by his father, the late John Stoot, who played in the band John Stoot and the Jumpin’ Jivers, Corey was immersed in music from a young age. His father’s cousin, Rockin’ Sidney (writer of the hit “Don’t Mess With My Toot Toot”), also left a lasting legacy.
Corey was shaped by early influences such as George Benson, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, and others. That early exposure helped plant the seed that would grow into a lifelong musical career.
